Hmm, I was just wondering, how many Falcons were sold world-wide? I would
have thought (hoped) that the number of Falcon users who upgraded to this
once in a life-time opportunity would have been much greater.

Number of falcons in the world : around 10.000 to 12.000 + 1.000 to 2.000
from C-LAB after.
The complete PCB product from atari corp was 20.000, but only 12.000 were
assembled and put in the market pipe.
The other 8.000 were sent partially or totally to C-LAB (2 big cargo
airflights from Sunnyvale to Germany it was told to me !) : it is why C-LAB
do not modify the PCB (even it was urgent to do it : put a SIMM socket on
the mb to avoid the ram card by example !!) for MK1/2/X machines--> they
have to sold the atari PCB !

That's now an old story and we should show at the future, not the past !

100-150 maybe? With term "in use" i understand Falcon is used on daily base,
not to be put out of closet once per month to play some games which dont work
in emulator :)

Gosh, that just seems plain sad, ya know?

I'd have to honestly say that every Atari system I've got, Lynx, Jaguar,
Mega ST (running my BBS), and my Falcon (once I get it back together) get
used daily.

I hadn't realized that the Falcon side of the community had dropped that
low. I figured if anything, that higher end machines like the Falcons, TTs
and clones would be used *more*.

Hm in what way Linux is less dark? From Atari point of view any non using of
Ataris, etc is bad. Windows, Linux, Mac? If person sell or put Atari in closet
none of them is any good. Using Linux instead Windows is just an excuse :)

I guess from the standpoint of anything that takes away from use of our
Ataris, then you have a point.

I suppose my anti-MS anything bias is showing. I loathe everything about
them. Having used MINT on my first Falcon years before, it was a natural
step for me to progress to Linux, rather than Windows.

Linux is much more in line of what my definition of what computing is
supposed to be like and about. MS="bad" in my book, and no one will ever
convince me otherwise. :-)

I agree with you on this - its why all 3 of the Linux boxes in my home LAN

I thinks it's more than that - certainly I use mine daily and I
know other club members who do the same (one of them bought a
CT60). In my case I was tempted, but didn't want to recase my
Falcon or hang on an external PS. It's so nice and compact at
present, even with an internal 6.4 GB drive!

Yes, i also like original case, it is nice and compact. U dont
need to recase it and external psu is not that bad, if u buy 15cm
extension cable and mount it on rear side and ct60. In that case u
can connect external PSU same way as we did with 520ST or Amiga,
c64 etc.. On back of the Falcon, there is only "PSU jack". I did
that with MKX case, which is not much bigger as original case
anyway..

CT60 didn't fit in a normal falcon case, thats why you need ctex ;-)
I'd like to fit in a internal PSU also, its just finding the time to mess
about with it all really :-(

The first CT60 have a big fan than cannot be put under the keyboard, but if
you use a bit you brain, you will find a way to put the heatsink differently
and be able to close the case ! I saw many people that put CT60 into the
original case !! One way is just to find a smaller fan and put it near the
heatsink.

SO, PLEASE STOP to spread BAD INFOS !!!

Now the CT63 is furnished with a very thin heatsink+fan bloc (have a look on
my web pages !!)

As the CT60 came it does not fit in the case, if you remove ran then maybe
it will fit. maybe if you fit alternative heatinks also, you your self said
not to try to remove the heatinks as of risk to the CPU!!!!!!!!!

So as as said it does not fit, it is not bad infos, you talk about
modifications to CT60, hence you only need modifications since IT DOES NOT
FIT!!!!!!

You forget that I sold 330 CT1 and 242 CT2 accelerators before !
Some people do not need more than CT2 or CT1...
I sold CT60 to people that have not a CT2 except 1 or 2 people...

But how CT1 + CT2 are yet in use..??

If 6000 F30 are yet in use, they are 6000 that are sleeping somewhere !!
Where are these falcons ? Hey so many people are looking for them...it may
be good to locate some not used falcon !

Some people do not need more than CT2 or CT1...

This is an argument. I have three Falcons for example.

The first one is unmodified (and will always be, just for compatibility
reasons).
The second one has (of course) a CT60.
The third one has an Afterburner and a NOVA graphics card and I use it on a
daily basis as long as there is no acceptable graphics solution for my CT60
falcon.

Very strange...

I also know a lot of people that still use their Falcons and have more that 1
machine.

So if you assume that there are 6000 Falcons still in use and 1/3 is nearly
unmodified, 1/3 is already equipped with a decent accelerator there is 1/3
(or 2000) potential CT60/63 buyers. This means that Rodolphe already has
reached more than 10% of them. That is quite a good rate I think.
